Olof Lindgren was born in Visby, on Gotland, in 1934 and began his musical career as a military musician with the cornet as his main instrument. Educated at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. Employed as Principle of a local government music school in

Tranås 1958-1975; Regional Conductor for the military band in Östersund 1975-1979 and Principle of a local government music school in Krokom 1979-1991.He worked as Pedagogue, Conductor for orchestras and choirs and was Federation Conductor for Smålands Singing Federation. In his work as a conductor and string pedagogue he has arranged and composed work for choirs, orchestras and different chamber ensembles.
The meeting with the cellist Lars Blomberg in 1985 was the beginning of a series of concerts for solo instruments and mixed choirs. The concert for cello and mixed choir has been performed approximately 40 times worldwide. This piece and Four Lyric Poems are recorded on a CD with Malmö Chamber Choir under the leadership of Dan-Olof Stenlund.
The compositions comprise a wide range of music. There are songs inspired by nature, dialects and symphonic music like Three Symphonic Pictures , solo concerts and the eight concerts for solo instruments and mixed choirs:
Concert for Cello, Four Lyric Poems for Violin, Capriciccio e Epilog for French Horn, Canti d ' amore for Oboe, Fantasia Futura for Trombone, Concerto Canto for two Violins, Concert for Piano and Conversation for Bassoon.
